Troop 701 Backpackers

Twenty six scouts took part in this year’s Fall backpacking treks.  The advance crew journeyed 15 miles at West Branch State Park while the beginner crew backpacked 9 miles on the Mohican Trek.

Backpacking is an important part of our program because backpacking treks combine both traveling and camping experiences while building a deeper respect for the outdoors.

Younger scouts on the Mohican Trek built the confidence and skills needed to travel faster and farther.  Scouts on the advance crew added to their skills  in order to prepare themselves for even bigger challenges such as high adventure.

Reminder – tomorrow night’s troop meeting is advancement night.  We remind all scouts to return borrowed gear such as backpacks and to turn in cleaned troop gear such as tents and pots.

For 40 years, boys have joined Troop 701 of Strongsville, Ohio for one simple reason: "Because they wanted to." Together on the Scouting trail to Eagle they experience adventure, discovery and teamwork.
