Ancient Civilization Camp – October 9-11

Our upcoming camp is Ancient Civilization Camp, scheduled for the weekend of October 9-11, at Firelands Scout Reservation in Wakeman, OH. This month, we will be staying on the Avery Hand side of camp, which is the side that we checked-in at last month. The PLC has planned out some great activities, including a fun Sock War Capture-the-Flag style battle!

The cost for camp will be $25, and you can sign up on TroopWebHost. If you are planning to arrive late or leave early, it is very important that you include that information in the comments, so that we can try and make arrangements with the camp staff.

As has been the procedure this year, all participants will need to bring the Lake Erie Council’s 14-day temperature log and health questionnaire with them to camp. This includes the adult/parent who will be transporting the Scout to camp (we are not carpooling to camp as a troop). With the start of camp being October 9th, this means that you needed to begin tracking daily temperatures this past weekend, so if you haven’t started yet, please do so ASAP. You can download a copy of the temperature log sheet using this link:

From a gear standpoint, this month’s camp will be very similar to September Camp. Each scout is responsible for bringing their own tent to camp, along with a few masks/face coverings. Other important gear to remember to bring includes a ground tarp and pad, headlamp or flashlight, rain gear, camp chair, appropriate clothing for the weather forecast (don’t forget to pack a stocking hat and a couple of pairs of gloves if it’s going to be cold), and a filled water bottle. Also, please make sure your name is on everything, including the parts of your tent. Everyone did a great job with their gear last month, so let’s keep up the good work!

If you have any questions about camp, please let us know. Thanks so much for your cooperation, and we hope you will be able to join us for a fun weekend!
