Troop 701 Hammock Policy

We wanted to make you aware of Troop 701’s hammock policy before you plan your holiday gift giving.

Hammocks are becoming more popular as a method of camping, but there are skills and knowledge that are necessary to make sure hammocks are safe. Troop 701 is initiating a Hammock Safety protocol and training to make sure our Scouts are well prepared to use hammocks in a responsible, safe manner.

Scouts must have completed their 8th grade year, have reviewed the hammock safety protocol with a parent or guardian, and have written permission from a parent or guardian to be permitted to use hammocks in an outdoor activity with Troop 701.

Please watch for the training and the parent/Scout acknowledgement form over the next few months. There will be plenty of time for our Scouts to complete this training, as the next few camping locations will not be conducive to hammock camping.

Thanks for your cooperation as we work to keep all of our Scouts safe!

For 40 years, boys have joined Troop 701 of Strongsville, Ohio for one simple reason: "Because they wanted to." Together on the Scouting trail to Eagle they experience adventure, discovery and teamwork.
