We are hiking 10 miles this Saturday, January 28th in Medina County. The crew is meeting at Chapman Elementary at 9:00 a.m. Please be prompt! Parents are encouraged to drive to Chippewa Lake and are welcome to join the hike. If you are not driving from Strongsville or are driving separately, please meet us at the Chippewa Inlet Trail parking lot on Chippewa Road by 9:40 a.m. We are planning to return to Chapman at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Our route will begin near Chippewa Lake, and take us north on the Chippewa Inlet Trail to Buckeye Woods Park, which is the largest park in the Medina County Park system. We will hike the trails in Buckeye Woods, along with the wooded trails in the nearby Schleman Nature Preserve, before returning south along the Chippewa Inlet Trail to our starting point. The Inlet trail follows the Chippewa Inlet stream, so the terrain is pretty level. After the hike, be sure to complete your report and send it to Mr. Whitecar.
Remember to carry a full daypack with two quarts of water, trail snacks and a lunch, rain gear, spare socks, warm gloves, and other essentials. Being a winter hike, don’t forget to wear/bring plenty of warm clothes (especially gloves), but make sure to layer those clothes, so that you can regulate your body temperature.
