10-mile Hike #5 at Cuyahoga Valley NP: Kendall Lake – Sunday, May 28th
We are hiking 10 miles on Sunday, May 28th in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Our route by Kendall Lake will take us along wooded and hilly terrain, through a tunnel, and will allow us to explore some rock ledges. This is a make-up hike for scouts working on the Hiking Merit Badge who still need one of their three 10-mile hikes. However, anyone who would like to join us for this hike, either to help train for Philmont, or earn some hiking miles towards a Boot Club award, is welcome to attend.
Remember to carry a full daypack with two quarts of water, trail snacks and a lunch, rain gear, spare socks, sunscreen, and other essentials. Please also wear a comfortable pair of waterproof boots/shoes ( a portion of the trail may be wet and muddy ). We will be passing by our cars at around the halfway point of the hike, so if you are training for Philmont, consider bringing your pack filled with some weight, as you’ll be able to drop off some of the weight part-way through.
The crew is meeting at Chapman Elementary a little bit before 9:00 a.m. Please be prompt! Parents are encouraged to drive to the Kendall Lake Shelter parking lot on Truxell Road, and are welcome to join the hike. If you are not driving from Strongsville or are driving separately, please meet us at the Kendall Lake parking lot around 9:45 a.m. We are anticipating a return to Chapman around 4:00 p.m.
