Time-Traveling Wild West Camp – November 13-15

Our upcoming camp is Time-Traveling Wild West Camp, scheduled for the weekend of November 13-15, at Firelands Scout Reservation in Wakeman, OH. We will be back on the Avery Hand side of camp, which is where we were for camp last month. We will be staying by the Stewards’ Shelter in Gilwell Field, which is a short walk up the camp road from the main parking lot. Come travel back (or maybe forward?) in time with us to the Wild West, and join us for some fun activities!

The cost for camp will be $25, and you can sign up on TroopWebHost. If you are planning to arrive late or leave early, it is very important that you include that information in the comments, so that we can try and make arrangements with the camp staff.

Per the current Troop and Lake Erie Council COVID-19 guidelines, we will be able to participate in camp as long as Cuyahoga County or Lorain County are not classified at the Level 4 “Purple” status in the Ohio Public Health Advisory System during the weekend of camp. We won’t know for sure the status of each county until the Thursday before camp, so please be prepared for a schedule change if necessary.

As has been the procedure this year, all participants will need to bring the Lake Erie Council’s 14-day temperature log and health questionnaire with them to camp. This includes the adult/parent who will be transporting the Scout to camp. With the start of camp being November 13th, this means that you needed to begin tracking daily temperatures this past weekend, so if you haven’t started yet, please do so ASAP. You can download a copy of the temperature log sheet using this link:

We will once again be tent camping this month, meaning each scout is responsible for bringing their own tent to camp, along with a few masks/face coverings. Other important gear to remember to bring includes a ground tarp and pad, headlamp or flashlight, rain gear, camp chair, appropriate clothing for the weather forecast (don’t forget to pack warm clothing, especially a stocking hat and a few pairs of gloves), and a filled water bottle. Also, please make sure your name is on everything, including the parts of your tent. Everyone has been doing a great job with the gear they have been bringing to camp!

If you have any questions about camp, please let us know. Thanks so much for your cooperation, and we hope you will be able to join us for a fun weekend!
