We’re sure many of you are looking at the weather forecast this weekend and wondering if we will hold Polar Bear.
Yes, Polar Bear is still a go! However, in the (likely) event of wet and icy conditions we are making arrangements for scouts to have Adirondack shelters instead of camping outside in scout-built shelters. Camp Butler has Adirondack shelters which are much like wooden tents with bunks. Each Adirondack can sleep 4 to 6 scouts and will protect them from rain and wind.
As the forecast firms up, we will send out another email to help scouts prepare. We ask that all parents support your scout and send him to camp! Boy Scouts is a program that often challenges boys and at times puts them in uncomfortable situations. While the BSA program believes scouts grow from new and challenging experience, rest assure the Troop always crafts experiences which are ultimately safe and successful With proper preparation – Polar Bear will be a successful experience for all scouts, so do not let the weather intimidate.
It’s important that all scouts attend tomorrow’s troop meetings ain important camp prep and instructions.
