Weekly Troop Meeting Plans

We want to thank everyone for your continued participation in our virtual weekly troop meetings. Our current plan is to continue to meet virtually as long as Cuyahoga County is under a Stay-at-Home Advisory, which was recently extended to January 15, 2021 by the Cuyahoga County Board of Health. This means that the weekly meetings on January 5th and January 12th will be virtual.

If the Stay-at-home Advisory is allowed to expire on January 15th, and is not extended, our hope is to be able to resume offering some of our weekly troop meetings in-person. As per the current Troop 701 COVID-19 protocols, the availability of in-person activities, provided Cuyahoga County is still at the Level 3 “Red” risk level in the Ohio Public Health Advisory System, will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with attention paid to the safety precautions of the activity and the current risk level in the community. If the Troop’s Leadership Team (Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, Chartered Organization Representative) determines that conditions are safe enough, our weekly meeting for January 19th will be held outdoors, in-person. As long as conditions in the community remain safe enough to schedule in-person activities, our goal is to hold in-person weekly meetings every other Tuesday, with virtual meetings being held the other weeks.

In order to safely conduct these meetings, we are required to keep our group sizes to 10 or less. This means that when you arrive at an in-person weekly meeting, once you have gone through the temperature check and question screening, you will be asked to go to a particular area with only the members of your patrol. Similar to how we conducted our meetings in the fall, the Scoutcraft activities and games will all be patrol-focused. All of our Scouts did a great job with this at our meetings and campouts earlier in the year, so we ask that you please continue to keep up the great work!

If Cuyahoga County is placed in the Level 4 “Purple” risk level, or if it is determined that conditions in the local community are not safe enough to hold in-person activities, we will revert back to virtual meetings every week; and will reassess the availability of in-person weekly meetings as often as it makes sense to do so. Also, if the weather conditions are not conducive to a safe or enjoyable in-person weekly meeting, we may decide to switch to a virtual meeting, and adjust the plan for future weeks if necessary. As always, we thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to offer our members the best program possible!
