Troop 701 Yard Charge 2014

We strongly believe that each Scout has the obligation to give something back to the community in which he lives.  Troop 701 has the goal of donating at least 1,000 hours of community service every year.  This is our way to live the Scout slogan, “Do A Good Turn Daily” while preparing youths to be responsible citizens.

In addition to the Eagle Scout projects we undertake during the course of the year, there are several service projects we complete every year for various organizations within the Strongsville community. Some are in support of our sponsoring organization, the Strongsville Rotary, while others benefit other organizations.

Here are some of the Troop’s service projects your Scout should expect to attend:

  • Patrol-led service projects.
  • Fall Yard Charge – benefits the Strongsville city residents.
  • Christmas tree decoration – Falling Water Assisted Living Center.
  • Chili Open – Rotary Club.
  • Memorial Day flag raising on the Strongsville Commons – Kiwanis Club.
  • Memorial Day placement of flags on veterans’ graves – Strongsville Cemetery.
  • Duck Races – Rotary Club.
  • Strongsville Historical Society.
  • Strongsville Backyard Preserve.

We look forward to working with your son in what we consider to be an excellent program for all around development of a boy. Our goal is to build your son’s character, confidence in himself, and sense of responsibility by providing him with a program that is both dynamic and fun for him.

At Troop 701 we are committed to service so much, we even have an award for it, the Troop Community Service Award.  Each year Scouts are expected to donate at least 12 hours of community service across at least four different service projects.  If a Scout does this, he’ll earn the Troop Community Service Award.
