With the increase we are seeing in Covid-19 cases in our area, especially in the local schools and among younger people, we have made the decision to transition our December Camp to a day-camp on Saturday. Our main concern with an overnight camp is having a large number of people unmasked in an indoor space for a significant length of time, which is what would occur while we are sleeping. Providing safe opportunities for our troop is our top priority, and we want all of our scouts and their families to trust that the safety and well being of our members is always first and foremost in our minds.
Although we will not be overnight camping, our Scouts will still be able to enjoy all of the great games that our youth leaders planned out for camp, including the traditional Christmas-themed activities! This will also be a longer day-camp experience than we had back in the spring. While we are still finalizing a location, expect the day-camp to run between the hours of 8:30 AM-9:30 PM on Saturday, December 4th. Once we have finalized our location, we will share more specifics with everybody. Also, everyone who attends will earn one night of camping, and this camp will also count towards any Year Round Camper and consecutive monthly camping streaks. However, please remember that if you need to miss a camp due to illness/quarantine, an absence will not end those streaks, so please stay home if you are not feeling well.
The troop will be providing lunch and dinner, so we still need you to sign up on TroopWebHost if you are planning to attend. The cost for the day camp will be $15. Also, since our Scouts will have the opportunity to participate in all of the activities planned for camp, they will still need to bring some gear with them (probably in a duffel bag). Please make sure to read the information block below about camp, so that you will be prepared with everything you need to bring.
We realize that some of you may be disappointed that we are not able to overnight camp this month, and believe me, we are disappointed as well! However, we still have a great opportunity to spend time together, participate in some fun activities, and share Scout spirit and fellowship with one another. We are continually thankful for your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we make these important decisions regarding our program. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Wes Kent or Laura Eizember. Thanks so much, and we’re looking forward to seeing all of you on Saturday!
