New Mask Policy

We are happy to share a change in our troop masking policy.

The CDC has recently modified its masking recommendations to reflect the declining case rate of COVID in our Northeast Ohio counties. We have reviewed our policy with our chartered organization, in consultation with Lake Erie Council and Strongsville City Schools, and plan to follow the CDC recommendations.

Specifically, this means that at this time masking indoors will now be optional for Scouts and adults. We will continue to support any individuals who choose to mask at Scouting activities. Those who choose to mask might base this decision on risk from personal health conditions, health conditions in close contacts or family members, or personal immunization status.

Parents, this is a good opportunity to remind your son that “a Scout is kind.” Scouts should not pressure others to mask or not to mask, and should respect the decisions of other families.

This policy may change in future months if the case rate in Cuyahoga or Medina County increase, or if new variants of the disease emerge. Troop 701 will continue to follow CDC guidelines and err on the side of caution for our community.

It is still very important for all of us to be vigilant about any symptoms that may suggest illness. We ask any individual with symptoms consistent with COVID to stay home from any scouting activity. Also, an individual awaiting a COVID test result taken because of symptoms or exposure, or an individual asked to quarantine because of an exposure, would be expected to stay home.

Thank you for your continued care for each other and vigilance as we make this transition.
