Our next camp is Out of This Universe Christmas Camp, scheduled for December 5th-7th. Christmas Camp is one of the most fun camps of the year, and our awesome PLC and youth leader teams have been hard at work planning some really fun and engaging activities for everyone to participate in. Plus, our Quartermaster team will be preparing their annual holiday dinner feast!
The cost for this month’s camp is $35, and we are asking that you please sign up on TroopWebHost as soon as you can. Also, if you will be arriving to camp late or leaving early, please share those details in the comment field of your sign-up.
We will be meeting for camp at Chapman Elementary School at 6:45 PM on Friday, December 5th. We are expecting a return time to Chapman around 10:30 AM on Sunday, December 7th. As always, we are looking for parent volunteers to assist with driving, so if you are available, please sign up for one of the driving options on TroopWebHost.
While preparing for camp, please check the weather forecast, and pack accordingly. Warm socks and gloves are definitely necessary, and Scouts should bring a couple of extra pairs of each. In addition to warm socks and gloves, please prepare to dress in layers, with boots and a warm hat (a lot of scouts bring a Santa Hat for this camp). Also, with all the fun activities that the PLC has planned it is VERY IMPORTANT that each Scout brings some additional special gear/items to camp:
–Class A Uniform.
-One gallon of drinking water to share.
-One dozen homemade cookies. Please put your last name on the cookie container if you want it returned.
-Christmas decorations and lights for decorating your bunk/cabin and your Patrol Leader! The Staff will be participating in this activity as well! Please don’t bring any tinsel, as it is very difficult to sweep up.
-Candy and supplies for the gingerbread house building competition.
-A gift for the gift exchange. The gift should be valued at $15, and needs to be wrapped (but not tagged). Please bring a fun gift that would be appropriate for a 12-year old Scout.
Additionally, everyone should remember to bring the following items as well:
-A pair of indoor shoes to wear only in the cabin (slides, Crocs, tennis shoes, etc.).
-A headlamp or flashlight.
-Rain gear.
-Some garbage bags for any wet/muddy clothing or gear.
-Your white or green advancement book (in a ziploc bag).
-A filled water bottle.
-Patrol Leaders should bring their patrol flag.
-Lots of holiday spirit!
The Camp will be held at Camp Paradise, just south of Medina. There are heated cabins, indoor bathrooms, and a lodge building we will use for the activities, although the patrols will be cooking outside. Christmas Camp is one of the most fun camps of the year, and one where we even have some alumni Scouts join us for the weekend, so we hope to see all of you there!
