With Troop 701 being a youth-led program, the majority of the planning, coordinating, and running of our activities and events is performed by our high-school aged Scouts. We are always very proud and impressed with their hard work and dedication to our troop! What this also means is that they oftentimes may not get to participate in these activities. Therefore, we are hoping to offer some additional events throughout the year for them to enjoy.
The first of these activities is WhirlyBall, scheduled for Sunday, November 24th. If you’re wondering what WhirlyBall is, it is an activity that combines lacrosse, bumper cars, and some aspects of basketball. It features two teams of five players riding Whirlybugs, which are specialized bumper cars that offer more agility and steering ability. It’s super-fun, and easy for anyone to get the hang of.
Please sign-up on TroopWebHost if you are planning to participate. It is open to any Scout who is currently in 9th grade or above. The WhirlyBall facility is located in Bedford Heights, so we will be meeting as a group at Chapman Elementary School at 1:00 PM, and then carpooling to our destination. We have the WhirlyBall court for two hours, and then will be returning to Chapman at 4:45 PM. We will also need some drivers, so if a parent is available to drive, please indicate in the comment field of your son’s signup if you can help drive out or pick up.
The cost of the event will be dependent on how many people participate, but expect it to be in the range of $25 or so. We hope you will be able to join us for this fun opportunity!
