Troop 701 is currently planning to return to Heritage Scout Reservation in the Laurel Highlands area of Pennsylvania this summer from Sunday, July 18, to Saturday, July 24. The cost for summer camp this year is $435 per Scout if paid in full to Heritage by April 1, plus the cost of the summer camp bus (see discussion below). With the April 1 deadline in mind, Troop 701 will be collecting payments for summer camp with the following schedule:
$200 due per Scout by February 2
$235 due per Scout by March 2
The fee for Scouts older than 18 who are registered as a 92U Scout (Unit College Scouter Reserve) is $215 total.
We realize that much is still uncertain about this summer, so the plan to return to Heritage will be closely assessed in mid-March, before the payment is made to Heritage for the summer. Like last year, if it is felt that traveling across state lines would put our Scout’s camp experience in jeopardy, Troop 701 will consider pivoting to an in-state and potentially in-council camp (i.e. Beaumont – $375 total cost for Youth, $225 for 92U). If this change is made, any excess payments would be either credited to Scout accounts or refunded to families if requested. Similarly, if a family chooses to withdraw their Scout’s reservation from summer camp before the April 1 deadline, Troop 701 will refund the summer camp payments. It is not yet clear what the Laurel Highlands Council policy will be for later cancellations.
An up-to-date Part C Medical Form, with a provider’s signature, will be required for summer camp this year. Please keep that in mind if this has lapsed for your Scout.
Please contact Laura Eizember or Wes Kent if you have any questions or concerns about summer camp or Troop 701’s plans for the summer. We are excited to be able to offer a great experience to our Scouts again this summer, regardless of the location!
