Here is some important information for our 10-mile hike tomorrow (Saturday, January 28th):
Please arrive at Chapman by 9:00 a.m. We will be hiking the Chippewa Inlet Trail, and the trails in Buckeye Woods Park, in Medina County. Our return time to Chapman should be around 4:00 p.m. Even if you haven’t participated in any of the previous Hiking merit badge hikes, all scouts (along with parents) are welcome to join us.
Please come prepared for a winter hike. The weather forecast is calling for temperatures in the high 20’s, with a chance of light snow. Dress in layers, so that you can remove a layer if you get too warm while hiking; but will also be able to re-add a layer when we stop for a break. Please wear a stocking cap, warm socks and hiking boots, along with gloves. You should also bring extra socks and gloves in your pack. Since you will need to bring/pack warm layers and extra socks/gloves on this hike, you may need to wear a larger backpack.
Everyone needs to bring a trail lunch and some snacks for the hike, along with at least two quarts of water. We will not have the ability to boil water on the hike, so please bring a lunch that doesn’t require cooking or hot water.
Although the conditions will be a little chilly, the terrain for this hike is relatively flat. With all of the hiking and backpacking experience you have had so far, this one should be a walk in the park!
