Our Chartered Organization, the Rotary Club Foundation of Strongsville, sponsors the Chili Open Golf Classic at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea each year in February. This is their biggest fundraiser of the year, and impacts all of the Rotary Club’s community service and sponsorship (including our troop!). The Rotary Club has again asked for our help to make this event a success.
The Chili Open will take place this year on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Signups for volunteer shifts are now available on TroopWebHost. We especially need older Scouts and adults for the 8:30-11:30 shift, as Scouts help direct the parking for the event at this time. Later shift volunteers of all ages will staff a hole-in-one station.
This day of service is particularly helpful for our Scouts who are working on their Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge, which requires eight hours of service to a single community organization. If you can spend only part of the day on February 25, you will have the opportunity to complete the eight hours at the Rotary-sponsored Duck Race on June 3. These two events are the easiest way to fulfill this merit badge requirement during Troop 701’s regular programming.
Even if your Scout doesn’t need the merit badge volunteer hours, please consider signing up to help the Rotary Club at this important fundraising event. Thank you for your help!
