Virtual Troop Meeting This Week

Last week, Cuyahoga County was moved into the Level 3 “Red” category of the Ohio Public Health Advisory System, indicating “very high exposure and spread” of the COVID-19 virus. According to the current Troop 701 COVID-19 Safety Plan, the Troop will follow the guidelines from the state, and will “limit attending gatherings of any number.” This will mean a transition to all-virtual meetings for now. We have been in contact with Lake Erie Council, and have been told that some new guidance will be published in the next week or so. We will continue to take any new additional guidance from the BSA or the state of Ohio, work with the Rotary Club of Strongsville to update our COVID safety policy, and do our best to keep you informed of our plans to keep our families safe. For now, however, we will return to virtual meetings for this Tuesday.  Please see additional information below for more details.

For this week’s meeting, we will send out a Zoom meeting link to our families via TroopWebHost on Tuesday morning. The meeting time will be the same, 7:00-8:30 PM, and we are asking that everyone wear their Class A uniform. Additionally, since we are planning to use Breakout Rooms during the meeting, we are asking for parent volunteers to help monitor each room. If you are able to arrive at the virtual meeting about 10 minutes early, that will help us get everyone’s room assignments ready to go.

Please know that we are not transitioning to virtual events because of any actions of our Scouts.  We are very proud of all of you, and your families, for your cooperation with our safety protocols, and your willingness to keep each other safe.  Although moving away from in-person activities is disappointing news, our number one priority is providing a safe program for our Scouts, so we ask that you please continue to bring your positive energy and enthusiasm to our virtual events! If you have any questions about our policies, or any aspect of our program, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thanks so much for your understanding!
